Learning Disability, Autism and Buddy Support Worker

This role involves supporting children and young adults with physical and learning disabilities and their families within the home . Working to an individualised support plan, the purpose of this position is to support Appletree’s clients in accessing activities within the community or at home, providing personal care support and ensuring the children and young adults have a secure and happy childhood and are kept safe from harm.

Support duties will therefore include assisting the service user with a variety of duties, and in doing so the Learning Disability, Autism and Buddy Support Worker will observe the following:

Key Responsibilities:

∙ To work with children with a variety of care needs in their own homes, providing personal care, ensuring that physical and emotional needs are met
∙ To support children by providing transport or escorting them in transport
∙ To effectively deal with emergencies if they arise
∙ To follow care plans and risk assessments
∙ To record a daily log at the end of each shift
∙ To ensure punctuality and professionalism
∙ To report any concerns through correct management channels and communicate effectively

Key Functions:

∙ To be assertive and observe health care changes
∙ Understand the clinical needs of the client and provide appropriate care in line with the care plan
∙You may need to provide personal care, manual handling and administer medication
